Lesley Anne Rose – Editor
Lesley Anne has been involved with film in the north west for a number of years. During her time as Film Programme Manager for the Dukes in Lancaster, she was responsible for the organisation’s monthly film programme and related events. She developed a series of annual seasons including a Canadian Film Festival and a Bike Film Festival in conjunction with Lancaster’s status as Cycle Demonstration Town. Lesley Anne has also written, filmed and edited short films and currently works as a freelance travel and script writer. She likes train journeys, hot weather and the seaside.

Sarah Perks – Director of the Board
Sarah is Education Director at Cornerhouse, Manchester’s international centre for contemporary visual arts and cinema. She is responsible for managing the education team that includes the innovative programmes LiveWire for young people aged 14 – 18 years and Projector for schools and colleges. Sarah has been Festival Director for exposures, the UK’s leading student film festival for several years, and is also a freelance lecturer and writer specialising in Asian cinema. Sarah also likes Indian and Chinese food, holidays and shopping!

Peter White – Chair of the NFN Board
Peter White worked as a senior manager for Prudential for 10 years. He was on the board of management of Prudential Holborn and was regional director for Scotland and Northern Ireland. He has an MBA from Manchester business school and is a graduate of the Royal Northen College of Music in Manchester. He has recently completed re-training to be a lawyer and currently works for Pinsent Masons. He lives with his family in Bolton. He is passionate about cooking and grand prix motor racing and has a strong Christian faith.
Kate Taylor – Board Member
Kate is a freelance film and music programmer and Co-Director of the London Short Film Festival, an annual event at the ICA and Curzon Soho. Recent work includes programming for the Music & Film Arena at the Latitude festival, curating a series of art events for Digital North and teaching an 8-week evening course “An Introduction to Short Film” at Cornerhouse in Manchester. Kate’s film journalism appeared in the North West Enquirer and Time Out Manchester.

Mike Knowles – Board Member
Mike is the BAFTA-nominated producer of “Talking with Angels”. He has also produced two other short films. Committed to developing filmmaking outside London, Mike was responsible for establishing the Northern Film Network, and was the prime mover, chairman and promoter of the inaugural Salford Film Festival which received significant critical acclaim and media coverage. Having recently completed the prestigious EAVE course to develop one of Made Up North’s feature film projects, he was also accepted on Skillset’s sought after Guiding Lights mentoring scheme and is currently working with producer Andrew Eaton (24 Hour Party People, A Cock And Bull Story.)

Mike Todd – Board Member
Mike has a number of years’ experience in the media/communication field. In addition to his filmmaking experience, Mike has also worked as a Spokesperson for the UN Mission in Kosovo, worked on promoting the image of Manchester during the 2002 Commonwealth Games and chaired the communication group for the 2003 Champions League Final. Mike co-wrote, produced, directed and edited ‘Catch: the hold not taken’, which was his first feature-length production, and is currently Director of Riverhorse, a documentary production company.

Sean McArdell – Board Member
Sean is one of the partners of 11:22 Entertainment Ltd; a young, innovative company based in London, Cheshire and Wrexham, North Wales. He has produced television advertisements for the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI), DVD’s for the North Wales Screen Commission and a number of Short Films. He has a wealth of website and design experience and has worked with NEWI on a work experience scheme for young filmmaking talent. He is currently producing Hawk an extremely ambitious short film shot on location on the side of a mountain in Snowdonia.

Ed Connole – Board Member
Ed is director of Toxteth TV, an exciting new project funded by the DfES and the LSC to provide a Video production resource where young people aged 14 – 18 years can train alongside Professional Production Companies in a brand new fully accessible facility in Windsor Street, Liverpool. The building houses a managed workspace in one half and the other is dedicated space for the provision of video production training and includes a full size and professionally equipped studio space.
