To support the internal communications team for the BBC North project. In particular, to co-ordinate project events, support the production of films and assist the communication of initiatives effectively. This role is based in Manchester but will involve occasionally travel to London.

Organisation Context The BBCs move to MediaCityUK at Salford Quays and the development of BBC North is an important strand of the BBCs wider Out of London strategy.

Their vision for the BBC North is to create a new BBC for the digital age, recognised as the best place to work in the organisation and the industry. Building on existing strengths by adopting cutting edge working practices and creating an environment that puts the audience at the heart of the creative process, it will set the standard for the rest of the organisation. As part of BBC North, the BBC will create a substantial creative centre outside London, enhancing the competitiveness of the media industry as a whole. On the MediaCityUK site at Salford Quays, the BBC will sit alongside suppliers, distributors and potential collaborators, creating an environment conducive to establishing the partnerships necessary for the BBC to continue to thrive in a post-switchover world. The centre will provide an attractive place to work for those born and raised in the digital age and by adopting more flexible employment policies and practices, we will make it easier for employees to experience working in new areas, both within and outside of the BBC.

The creation of BBC North will mean complex creative, operational, people related, property and technology challenges. It will also mean the migration of existing departments from London and existing Manchester premises to the new site.

This is an exceptionally complex, multifaceted and demanding programme with demanding time lines, and organisation wide implications.
