First Light Movies - funding available

First Light Movies funds groups of young people aged between five and 19 through various funding schemes. There are two main funding strands available, the Pilot and Studio Awards, but we also offer support with generating those first film ideas.

Studio Award. Funding for between two and four films of up to 10 minutes in duration. Maximum grant – £30,000. Match funding of 40% required. Track record of filmmaking with young people necessary. The next deadline for applications to the Studio Award scheme is 5.30pm on Tuesday 22 April 2008. Funding decisions will be announced on Friday 27 June 2008.

What’s the Big Idea? Award. Funding for script development projects that team young people with script professionals. Maximum grant – £3,000. 10% in-kind match funding requirement. The next deadline for applications to the What’s the Big Idea? Award scheme is 5.30pm on Tuesday 24 June 2008. Funding decisions will be announced on Tuesday 19 August 2008.

Pilot Award. Funding for one short film of up to five minutes in duration. Maximum grant – £5,000. 20% in-kind match funding requirement. The next deadline for applications to the Pilot Award scheme is 5.30pm on Tuesday 24 June 2008. Funding decisions will be announced on Tuesday 19 August 2008.
