From over 1000 submissions received from across Europe, 200 have been carefully programmed into 30 shorts
screenings. There are country-specific strands, Student screenings and genre-led programmes from Horror to
Documentary to Animation. There will be something for everyone at Kinofilm 2010 including special screenings of this
year’s BAFTA and Oscar-nominated shorts. As an additional sidebar this year, eight feature films from directors who
started out in shorts will be shown in the Transitions strand.
They are pleased to announce Revanche as their opening night film (27 April, 8pm). This stunning, international
breakthrough film from Austrian filmmaker Götz Spielmann was nominated for Best Foreign Language Oscar and has
won a host of awards. The tense, existential portrait of Austrian life, in which violence and beauty exist side by side, is
sure to sell out and booking is strongly advised.
As ever, the screening themselves are complimented by an extensive and accessible education programme.
Filmmakers will also be on hand throughout the festival, taking part in panel debates and Q&As. And for those seeking
a break from screenings The Polish Film Poster Exhibition is running over the course of the festival, until 16 May in
the Triangle Shopping Centre. The exhibition is part of the Polska Year! celebrations, funded by the Adam Mickiewicz
Institute and co-insides with the Kino Polski strand of new Polish shorts.
Early Bird Festival Pass, for the bargain price of £25 is available until the end of Friday, 23rd April here
