moves08 22nd - 26th April
Apr 18, 01:19 PM by Kate Taylormoves experimental short film and new media festival with a special focus on movement returns for the fourth time in Manchester, Lancaster and the UK 22-26 April. moves explores new ways of telling stories through fiction and documentary, showcases short films and installations in usual and unusual screening contexts such as cinemas but also in bars, on the Big Screens throughout the UK.
This year’s programme focuses on the interaction of sound and movement in film through screenings, debates and hands-on creative events. moves’ key role is to be a platform with room to debate content as much as to see and make work. There is plenty to share through the three-day conference and industry events; to discover through the screenings and installations (in Manchester and Lancaster for the first time); to create through the filmmaking lab and masterclass.
What moves is offering this year is a journey through sound and movement in film over the course of exhibitions, screenings and installations in cinemas and public spaces of two cities, be it bars, galleries, but also seven of the bbc Big Screens throughout the uk.
