Side Cinema Traineeship, Amber, Newcastle upon Tyne
May 8, 08:37 PM by Kate TaylorWith the support of Northern Film & Media, Amber is creating a one year traineeship (21⁄2) days per week) in cinema programming, audience development and administration.
Amber is a film & photography collective, which has been based in Newcastle upon Tyne since 1969. Side Gallery and Cinema, which opened in 1977, are part of the Amber operation. The group is looking for an energetic, imaginative and self-motivated individual with an interest in working creatively in the context provided by Amber and its 48 seat screening venue, which has built a reputation around independent, socially engaged cinema.
The traineeship will be developed around the interests and skills of both the successful applicant and members of the Amber collective, with time being made available to take advantage, also, of appropriate training opportunities offered by Northern Film & Media and others. General audience development and the practicalities of the existing programme will form a central part of the traineeship. Amber will also be looking to the trainee to work, in particular, on developing audiences in the communities of interest related to particular seasons and on developing a sustainable expansion of cinema programming.
