The UK Film Council UK Partnerships department is seeking a highly motivated and well organised individual to assist the UK Partnerships Coordinator. The UK Partnerships team work closely with the UK Film Council’s key partnerships in the United Kingdom, including the nine Regional Screen Agencies, the British Film Institute, Northern Ireland Screen, Scottish Screen, Film Agency for Wales, Skillset and First Light Movies.

The successful candidate will need experience of working in an administrative role preferably within a public or creative industries environment. The role requires exceptional organisational skills along with solid IT, report writing and PA skills. A strategic thinker s/he will have a proven track record in project administration and delivery. Good interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to forge and sustain strong working partnerships both internally and with external partners and funded organisations.

Side Cinema Traineeship, Amber, Newcastle upon Tyne

With the support of Northern Film & Media, Amber is creating a one year traineeship (21⁄2) days per week) in cinema programming, audience development and administration.

Amber is a film & photography collective, which has been based in Newcastle upon Tyne since 1969. Side Gallery and Cinema, which opened in 1977, are part of the Amber operation. The group is looking for an energetic, imaginative and self-motivated individual with an interest in working creatively in the context provided by Amber and its 48 seat screening venue, which has built a reputation around independent, socially engaged cinema.

The traineeship will be developed around the interests and skills of both the successful applicant and members of the Amber collective, with time being made available to take advantage, also, of appropriate training opportunities offered by Northern Film & Media and others. General audience development and the practicalities of the existing programme will form a central part of the traineeship. Amber will also be looking to the trainee to work, in particular, on developing audiences in the communities of interest related to particular seasons and on developing a sustainable expansion of cinema programming.

Based in Liverpool, the company creates digital content for multiple platforms; including television, online, broadband Internet and mobile. These newly created roles within the Conker Media team, provide a unique opportunity for pro-active individuals and recent graduates with the right skills, to work within a leading digital media environment; offering scope to move on to other innovative projects and work across emerging platforms. Content Editor
Working with the Senior Content Editor, the Content Editor will write, edit and commission content for online, broadband Internet and mobile platforms, as well as working with the Conker Media development team for television. Salary: £17,500 – £20,000 pro rata. Initial contract: 12 weeks

Associate Content Editor, Drama (Mobile)
Associate Content Editor, Drama (Online)
The Associate Content Editors will work on a pilot project for BBC Switch, developing and expanding story content for mobile and online audiences. The Associate Content Editors will be expected to manage the technical delivery of the content, monitor and moderate incoming traffic and work alongside the drama writing team to ensure that all storylines meet continuity expectations across platforms. This role would suit a digital media journalist or creative writer. Salary: £15.000 pro rata. Contract: 4-6 weeks

Project Co-ordinator
Working with the Production Manager, the Project Co-ordinator will be responsible for co-ordinating/scheduling key tasks across projects and ensuring that projects run smoothly. The Project Co-ordinator will provide team support across projects and allocate resources appropriately. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and administration skills, as well as previous experience within the digital media or television industry; preferably with previous co-ordinating experience. Salary: £15,000 pro rata. Initial contract: 12 weeks

Associate Content Producer
Working with the Content Producers, this is an entry level opportunity for someone with the right skills to play a vital role in creating A/V content for delivery across platforms. The Associate Content Producer will be multi-skilled, with experience of applying PD150/Z1 cameras and Final Cut Pro to a high standard. Knowledge of encoding and compression for these formats would be expected. Salary: £15,000 pro rata. Initial contract: 12 weeks.

Associate Content Designer
Working with the Senior Content Designer, this is an entry level opportunity for someone with the right skills to play a vital role in creating still, animated and web-based content for delivery across platforms. The Associate Content Designer will be competent in Photoshop and have knowledge of xhtml and css for creating web content. A working knowledge of Flash, InDesign and other industry standard graphics packages is also a requirement. Salary: £15,000 pro rata. Initial contract: 12 weeks

Associate Content Developer
Working with the Content Developer, this is an entry level opportunity for someone with the right skills to play a vital role in updating web-based content for delivery across platforms. The Associate Content Developer will have an understanding of how to translate designs into standards compliant websites using html, xhtml and css. A key role will be managing and updating content for the Channel 4 websites using their content management system; for which training will be provided. Salary: £15,000 pro rata

Military Pride WaterWay Exhibition July – October 2008

By July 2008, IWM North will have a three-year history of delivering LGBT-related activity within the anniversary strand of its Visitor Programme (LGBT month/Pride season). The themes and issues covered are strongly related to local, national and international communities and cultures, and support the message that war shapes lives. IWM North is expanding and diversifying its Veterans North project to engage LGBT veterans. The exhibition will therefore support this strand of our community work.

The experience of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, within the context of conflict, war and military service, is largely a hidden history. The Military Pride exhibition and accompanying film will reflect and represent these individual experiences within a historical context, underpinned by a timeline of post-1945 legislature and policies within the Armed Forces.

Film Layout and Content:
During the Oral history recording process we will identify six participants (max) willing to be filmed talking of their time in the military.
Talking head style.
Filmmaker to liaise with IWM North project managers: Catherine Roberts and James McSharry to select footage and edit into a 20 minute film, 8 minute film and copy all the rushes in appropriate format.
Option to Transcribe Film, subtitle film insert BSL interpretation.
Budget £3000 for:
Completed 20 minute film with subtitles
Completed 8 minute film with subtitles
Copy of all rushes on suitable format.
Budget inclusive of all Filming editing, Snagging amendments and incurred expenses for travel and meetings.

Time frame:
Tenders to be received by Thursday 8th May 2008
Interview Presentation Friday 16th May 2008
Project completion 30th June 2008
