Like films? Like British films? Like British films enough to write about them?

May 8, 08:40 PM by Kate Taylor

Modern Life? the Indie production company behind Brit films Ten Dead Men & Left for Dead has recently acquired website www.lovebritishfilm.com a site dedicated to (you guessed it) British film.

Determined to make the ultimate one stop shop for British films we will be re-launching the site in June 2008. For the relaunch we are looking to take on a small but dedicated reviews and features team that are dedicated to making this the one stop portal for fans of British films. Ideally you’ll have some experience of writing reviews and all we ask is that you commit to contribute a minimum of 2-4 reviews per month (we are looking for ‘staff’ reviewers so would like the same team week in week out).

No money but coverage, published reviews on a site that was getting 10,000 + hits a week in it’s heyday and a chance to work alongside some of the best freelancers in the business. There may also be the chance to have your work printed and a share in any freebies, screenings etc that come our way.

Interested? Then please email a brief resume and a sample of your work to
phil@mod-life.net. For more on us check out www.mod-life.net You can check out the site (it’s off line at the moment for a redesign) at www.lovebritishfilm.com The site will re-launch in June 2008.

Sound Editor Needed

Apr 25, 02:40 PM by Kate Taylor

Oak Tree Films are seeking a sound editor based in the North West (ideally Manchester) to mix the sound on our 5 minute short film Turner’s War. This is a great opportunity to expand your showreel as we require the sound mixing for sequences in a World War I trench and also at an Edwardian shooting party.

Turner’s War is a short film based on true events that took place in Nottinghamshire in 1913. One year before his assassination Archduke Franz Ferdinand was nearly shot and killed in a shooting accident when a loader slipped and fired both barrels of a shotgun at him. At the time everyone thought it was a great stroke of luck that he survived, however all it meant was that he was alive and well that fateful day in Sarajevo.

The film imagines how that loader might have felt if he wound up in the trenches, about to go over. It asks the question whether one man’s good fortune cost the lives of millions. Have a look at our website www.oaktreefilms.com to see productions stills. Please email your cv to info@oaktreefilms.com, and we will ask for showreels later. Payment will be a credit on the film, a copy of the DVD and for any necessary travel expenses.
